What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment [AQAA] that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints or safeguarding issues. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service; these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear, detailed and gave us all the information we needed. We looked at this document and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service to the people living there and that they have either made improvements or know what further changes they want to make. The home told us they have received one complaint in the twelve months before this review, which they have investigated. We have not received any complaints about the service in the twelve months before this report was written. The home told us in the AQAA that after listening to the views of people living at Hope Green they have done the following; From time to time we carry out surveys of services we provide, encourage service users and their relatives to give their views in a comfortable and confidential way, we also encourage prospective service user to visit the home. This year we have been able to decorate most bedrooms, involving service users to have a say in the purchasing of carpet and soft furnishing of their choice. We have purchased additional garden umbrellas and new garden chairs to encourage residents to enjoy the fresh air and the garden. We have invested in digital televisions and digital receivers in individual rooms. They have also told us that they intend to do the following, We are continuously reviewing the furnishings of the home, ensuring the views of other people are taken on board as well as ensuring the home continues to maintain a subtle country living styles and We have started to put on display some of the work our member have Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 done such painting they have taking part in the activity times. We have received survey forms from five residents (one was completed by a resident and four with assistance from either a family or staff member) and three staff members working at the home; these were generally positive about the service provided to people. One of the residents had written, The home and staff are always helpful. Now lounge has been redecorated it looks better but also said, The food is not to standard. Sometimes served cold, evening choice is not enough. Another person living in the home wrote, good care, good management and carers very helpful. We received both positive and negative comments from staff members. In relation to equality and diversity the home told us, The statement of purpose reflects the ability to admit people from any background and We have regular training for equality and diversity, our staff manual in the home includes policies on these subjects to promote good working practice. The home works well with us and they have shown that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. We did not identify any issues needing attention during our previous inspection visit and there has been no cause for us to visit since. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required. We can inspect a service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
