Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection . This included, The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service . Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? This service had a key inspection on the 18th June 2008 and received a good quality rating, this means that people using this service were assessed as having good quality outcomes. The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make and have a plan of action to implement those changes. The manager told us in the AQAA that they survey the opinions of people to influence changes at the home. The AQAA also tells us that the home have purchased a dog for the people using the service. The AQAA went on to tell us that they have implemented a key worker system to support individuals and that there are links with the community including access for people to practice the faiths of their choosing. We received one survey from somebody using the service which appeared positive about the experience of living at Kilmar House. Staff surveys told us that training is available and two staff told us that there is usually enough staff to meet the individual needs of all the people. One staff member commented that The home is very accommodating to all its residents and The residents seem to enjoy it here. Two staff surveys said the home could do better by looking into improving some facilities such as the nurse call bell system and toilet facilities. These areas will be reviewed at the next key inspection. At the last key inspection 18/06/2009 there were 5 requirements made and 3 good Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 practice recommendations. The AQAA details some areas that have been met, all of these areas will be assessed at the next key inspection. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection . They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 17th June 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
