Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their AQAA in good time but this failed to provide detailed information about how they have ensured that the quality of care and support has been reviewed and improved. Many of the sections had been left blank and other sections gave conflicting information in respect of information they have already provided. For example the AQAA sates there has been three deaths but we have received notifications from the home of at least 7 deaths in the last 12 months. We are not confident that the home knows what areas they need to improve on and therefore we are going to carry out a random inspection to ensure that the outcomes for people remain good. As part of the ASR process we sent 10 surveys to the people who live at the home and we received none back. The registered manager has since informed us they did not receive any surveys We want to check what people who live at the home think of the service they receive. The AQAA does not give us any details about the views of people who live at the home. We will focus on this when we complete a random inspection. The manager has now completed her registered managers award and is now completing further management training. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are going to complete a random inspection within the next three months to ensure that the quality outcomes for people remain good.
