Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? The annual service review for Rosehill House included, the completion of an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) completed by the manager, survey questionnaires sent to residents and staff, information from external agencies about the service and notifications sent to the Commission by the registered manager since the last inspection. The AQAA is a self assessment and data set that must be completed annually by all registered providers. It is one of the main ways we gather information about the provision of care and how providers believe they are meeting the assessed needs of the people using their service. We also looked to see if their had been any complaints or adult protection referals since the last inspection. There had been none at all. What has this told us about the service? From the details outlined in the AQAA and information received from other sources we judge that this home continues to meet the National Minimum Standards of the Care Standards Act. We received completed questionnaires from residents and staff, most of which contained positive comments about the level of care and support provided. Some examples of comments from those living in the home were, The home does everything well, The staff are lovely, just like my family, I am very satisfied there is nothing to improve and Regular meals and always on time. Full marks. Surveys from members of staff included, The home care for each service user individually, People are always made to feel welcome, We give residents privacy and dignity, Rosehill is a very loving home and I feel priviledged to work here, Residents feel safe and comfortable and I think we all work as a team and look after the residents really well. Some staff did, however, feel that the external security lighting could be improved and that there should be better information for the cook with regards to special diets. Since the last inspection 12 months ago the manager has included more information about equality and diversity into the pre-admission documentation. Care plans are now fully person centred focussing on outcomes and the fact that the plan belongs to each individual. Nutritional screening is now fully implemented which ensures that diets and weights are fully monitored. Residents have enjoyed taking part in several fund raising events and enjoy the visiting entertainer that attends all the parties. Internal refurbishment is ongoing with new carpets laid to the main hall, staircase and upper landing. Bedrooms have been decorated. Two new rooms have been registered giving the facility for maried couples to share accomodation if they wish. Staff training has continued with staff working towards NVQ at levels 2 and 3. A new intenal quality assurance system is currently being implemented through an external company The registered provider has plans for the future that include, continued improvements to the care planning system together with a new health and social care system. Attempts are being made to persuade the local council to provide benches on the pavement outside the home that would be beneficial to the residents when they go for a walk. Special birthdays and anniverseries are planned for next year. Staff training will continue with plans in hand for courses in Deprivation of Liberty and Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 adult protection. Internal decoration will remain ongoing and the provider is looking to upgrade the central heating system and provide a conservatory. The manager and deputy have organised managerial training to include the registered manager award and NVQ level 4 in care. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The Care Quality Commission will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required.
