They understood what to look for so they could identify if someone could be at risk of abuse, and they knew the right actions to take to help keep people safe. They were aware of mental capacity and what this meant for people living at Sevenfields. We saw that staff had good access to training such as falls prevention, infection control and dementia care. This helps make sure people were well protected from harm from poor practices. The manager told us that staff have an introduction to safeguarding vulnerable adults during their induction, then have more in depth training at an intermediate level. The home carries out a mental capacity assessment for each person using the service. This shows that they are proactive in making sure they put good practices in place to protect peoples rights and to safeguard them from harm. The manager said they had dealt with two complaints in the past 12 months. We saw evidence that the home followed correct procedures to resolve any concerns that people may express. Staff referred one concern to the adult safeguarding team. The person continued to be well supported by staff who had acted promptly and effectively to protect the person from suffering harm.
