What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service such as staff and relatives. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. For example, one relative and one person living in the home told us that they would like more activities and trips out. The homes AQAA told us that they had listened to peoples feedback about this and, We are trying to improve the daily recreation on offer for all clients. We have increased the hours of the Activity Person and have brought some activity games. People living in the home and their relatives tell us that they are generally happy with the service they receive. Most people told us that they like the food. One person stated: The home made soup is delicious. The home made cheesecake is lovely, The salad is always good. People also felt that they were treated as individuals with kindness and care that their needs were met. One person told us that the home Treats everybody as an individual. Knows us all by name. Provides for our medical Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 needs. Has a happy atmosphere We received comments from 4 relatives of people living in the home. All continue to be very satisfied with the quality of the care. One comment was My (relative) is very well cared for. Lovely staff, very accommodating. House is always clean and my (relative) is happy. Another relative told us that they were pleased with, Emotional and physical support for (relative). Always welcomed warmly, offered drinks. (Relative) always looks clean and happy Since our last visit to the home we have reviewed the number of deaths in the home. Information from visiting professionals indicates that this is in keeping with the level of frailty of the people who use the service. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 8th March 2012. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
