Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 8 What we found: We visited Stoke View on the 10th May 2010 at 12:15pm. Mr Paul Millard, the Responsible Individual, was present throughout the random inspection. The purpose of this inspection was to look at staffing records and discuss a recent safeguarding alert. We found that Stoke View held clear records on the staff members file looked at and who is currently employed in the home. This included a completed enhanced CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check, a copy of the person passport and driving license and two proofs of address including a bank statement and phone bill. Evidence on the staff members file examined showed that they had completed a staff induction programme and training including POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults), Manual Handling and had also completed an NVQ 2 qualification. This file also held a completed yearly staff appraisal. The CRB held on the file examined held no convictions and each staff member employed is also required to sign a declaration on their Application Form to state if they have any convictions. The application form examined had been signed by the staff member declaring no convictions. Both references held on this file were satisfactory and Mr. Millard confirmed that there had been no conduct issues with the staff member whose file was examined. In fact Mr. Millard spoke highly of this staff member. The medication was discussed with Mr. Millard and via a telephone call to Southleigh Residential home, the sister home were staff employed by Mr Millard also work. Stoke View and Southleigh both use the blister pack system to dispense medication. PRN medication was discussed and both homes held Diazepam 2mg tablets. Both homes medications were found to be in order with clear records on the medication records when Diazepam had been administered and the small amount held in stock to cover any emergencies. Both amounts held had been in stock, without usage, for some time.
