Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? An annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was sent by us to the registered manager of the home. The AQAA is a self assessment and a dataset that is completed once a year by all registered providers. It is one of the main ways in which we obtain information about how they are meeting outcomes for people using their service. The AQAA also provides statistical information about the individual service. We requested the views of two of the three people living in the home and the surveys were returned with very positive comments. The information contained in the last inspection report also contributed to this annual service report. We checked whether there had been any complaints made about the care provided or whether there had been any matters regarding the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. There have been no complaints made, neither have there been any adult protection issues raised. What has this told us about the service? From the information contained in the AQAA and that received from other agencies we judged that this service continues to meet the National Minimum Standards of the Care Standards Act. Comments received from people who use this service included, I enjoy my holidays and trips out and I really enjoy my food and I go out lots and I see my friends when I want to. I love Ellymay, the dog and I help with the cooking. I sometimes choose what we all have for tea. On the AQAA Mrs Gibson, the registered manager, told us that over the past 12 months more risk assessments have been put in place for activites inside and outside the home. She has promoted further involvement with family members and this has resulted in much closer family contact. She has looked at ways of improving the healthcare of the residents through healthy eating and regular checks. Open and frank discussions have been encouraged which has meant that any issues raised have been dealt with immediately. More in depth residents records are now in place. Maintemence and upkeep of the building is ongoing and a new driveway has been completed since the last inspection. During the coming months all risk assessments will be reviewed in order to keep the residents safe. Positive risk taking is encouraged in order to maintain independence. Family contact and visits will be supported to maintain links with home. Discussions about how residents wish to spend their time outside the home and links with the community will continue especially with regard to outings and holidays. All records will be kept up to date. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We will continue to monitor this service and complete a key inspection when required.
