We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? This service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the agency is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The AQAA told us: the care plans for individuals are formulated to take into account the service users personal values, beliefs and individual needs so that a holistic package of care can be provided. Staff have attended equality and diversities training courses. Activities are arranged in the home and outings take place for people who use the service. The AQAA also told us that they had received no complaints or experienced any safeguarding issues since the last Inspection (which took place on 20 January 2009). The Care Quality Commission have not received any complaints about this service. The agency continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. We received 6 completed surveys, from people who use the service. These were sent out to seek the views of people who use the service. The information contained in the completed surveys told us that all 6 people had received enough information to help them decide if the home was the right place for them prior to moving in. 5 people said that they had been given written information about the homes terms and conditions with 1 person stating they had not. 5 people said that they always received the care and support they needed, from staff who were available when they needed them and who listened to them and acted on what they said. 1 person said that this usually happened. All 6 people told us that the home makes sure they get the medical care they need and arranges activities at the home that they can take part in. Positive comments were made about the meals and that the home is always fresh and clean. We asked people what they thought the home did well and were told The staff look after the residents well and cater for all of their needs, staff are attentive and always Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 available for emotional support, they allow personal items, artefacts and furniture in the residents bedrooms, staff look after me very well and I would have no hesitation asking for extra help if I needed it, the meals are very good with many choices and all vegetables are fresh and well cooked. we laugh many times a day and the staff are exceptionally kind and I hope I will find this is my last place of residence. We also asked people what they thought the home could do better and were told nothing, turning down the bed and assistance getting into bed, nothing the home is excellent in every way and fulfilling personal requests such as making doctors appointments and getting money from the safe. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We have not changed our opinion of the quality of the service provided by this agency and will conduct an inspection by 20 January 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information Document Purpose: Author: Audience: Further copies from: Annual service review CQC General Public 0870 240 7535 (national contact centre) Our duty to regulate social care services is set out in the Care Standards Act 2000.
