Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We examined the homes Annual Quality Assurance Assessment, which is the homes self-assessment of its performance to date. We looked at surveys that people who use the service and staff had completed and returned to us with their comments. We considered notifications made by the service and sent to us about significant events. We reviewed the findings of the last key inspection carried out in October 2008. What has this told us about the service? Windsor Court continues to do well against all of the National Minimum Standards concerning Older People, in terms of positive outcomes for the people who use the service. People who use the service and their representatives say that they are happy with Windsor Court. Typical comments received from people who use the service, relatives and staff include: With the home being relatively small, the staff have time to do most things well. They always have time to attend to everybodys needs with a caring attitude. I find the management and staff to be very caring and give their full love and attention to all the residents. They make our visits worth while and it is always a pleasure to see that Mum is in a safe environment. Staff always take time to talk and listen to residents and their families. All staff work well together. The home does very well. It meets the needs of all the residents and is very homely and friendly. Its like a home from home. The staff have lots of training in all aspects of Care. All members of staff are friendly and willing to help each other and service users and their families in any way they can. The home provides the best care for our residents, helping them when they need it and encouraging the residents to keep active if possible. The staff are a good team and we all work together for the best interests of the residents in our care. Our manager is an asset to the home. She is very approachable at all times. The home has good professional relationships with external health and social care agencies. The service is well managed and there are good quality assurance systems in place, with support from the registered provider. The home has a good staff team of well trained personnel. Most care staff have gained qualifications in Care at National Vocational Qualification level 2 or above, or are working towards the award. There are good staff induction and training programmes organised by the home. The personal care provided is very good. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The service is progressing well and its Quality Rating continues to be excellent. There is no intention to carry out a key inspection of Windsor Court before October 2011. However, the service will be subject to continuous monitoring and annual review and may receive an inspection at any time.
