What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection in September 2007 and the annual service review in September 2008. This included: surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service; information we have about how the service has managed any complaints; what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service (these are called notifications and are a legal requirement); the previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months; relevant information from other organisations, such as the Fire Officer; what other people have told us about the service. We did not ask for the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment in time for this information to be included in this Annual Service Review. What has this told us about the service? We have not received any information about this service that gives cause for concern and would make us think that the current quality rating is not accurate. All four people who live at the service were helped to complete surveys. Some of the comments were: Sometimes I go out at weekends. This home is the right place for my needs. I speak to my key worker or manager if Im not happy. Six staff members completed surveys. All had very positive indications that the standards of recruitment, training and support are high and that they are well supported by the Manager in their roles. They said: We support the service users with care tailored to their individual needs. Staff work together as a team to give our ladies a warm, safe & clean environment. Care is given to ensure their daily lives are lived how they wish, as far as possible. The Manager & Senior are approachable at all times. It has a high standard. Very supportive to staff as well as service users. They keep staff updated with the information we need and what is required of us as support workers. Two health and social care professionals who have regular contact with the service also completed surveys and gave positive responses. A G.P. said, in response to what the service does well: Good communication, also, We have no concerns re medical care. We are always told about important things that have happened in the service since we did our last key inspection. The service has shown that they manage issues well and they have the interests of the people living there at the centre of what they do. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 18th September 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
