The AQAA is a self assessment that focus on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. What other people have told us. What has this told us about the service? The manager completed the annual quality assurance assessment by the agreed date.It gave clear and good information about the service and provided evidence that they value the views of people who use the service. The AQAA told us what improvements they had made in the last twelve months and what changes had made as a result of listening to people who use the service. They also highlighted the areas they were planning to improve on. They highlighted what they feel the home does well;they provided care plans that reflect the needs, ambitions and wishes of the person receiving care. They said they provide very clear guidance and policy on all aspects of health care using the national health service and private health professionals e.g chiropody and psychiatry. All personal hygiene tasks are carried out paying close attention to the privacy and dignity of people with the emphasis being on teaching them to complete these tasks independently wherever possible. People are encouraged to take an active part in general day to day discussions and meetings. They also encouraged people to be involved in all aspects of their life with choice being given throughout, however choice is sometime limited but to ensure that a choice is made, people are taught in a functional way to exercise their rights and accept their responsibilities throughout their daily life. People have access to tailor made timetables with access to local colleges and the companys purpose built day centre. The AQAA informed us of the changes made in the last twelve months from listening to people for example; By working with people in their service they have improved each persons confidence and encouraged them to be involved with the care they receive. Each person now attends formal reviews either six monthly or yearly, taking an active part with there social workers and purchasing authority.
