Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received and requested since the last key inspection which was conducted on 14 April 2008. This included: *The annual quality assurance assessment , AQAA, sent out by us, was completed and returned to CQC in a timely manner. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. *Regulation 37 notifications informing us of significant events in the home have been received throughout the year. *We reviewed the previous key inspection report. We took account of what other people have told us about the service and any relevant information received from other organisations was considered. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment when we asked for it. It was clear and detailed and gave us all the information we asked for. Monthly meetings for residents are held where views are sought. Meetings are structured to provide a relaxed atmosphere encouraging residents to speak freely. Feedback is given each month on how views and choices have been Incorporated into the daily running of Adamscourt. As a result of listening to residents views, a new menu has been developed and a new notice board displays information about what is happening around the home. The key worker list has been revised and there is a greater understanding by the residents of the key worker role. 12 permanent care staff members are employed at the home, of whom, 8 have completed induction training and 5 have achieved an NVQ level 2 or above in Care. The pre-admission assessment form has been updated to make it more open. Assessments encourage input from all involved with the resident. New contracts have been introduced during the year. Ongoing staff training is provided. The social programme is updated to introduce more activities, eg: cooking, flower arranging, taster nights such as wine & cheese and Spanish nights. Family & friends are encourage to be involved in social gatherings. A complaints procedure is in place and accessible to all. There have been no complaints in the last year. A comprehensive range of policies and procedures are in operation at the home. All were reviewed in the last year. The AQAA tells us that home benefits from the experienced management of the Registered Manager, coupled with regular support from the Provider. The home aims to provide a person centred approach to care promoting quality care, high standards and independence. The home continues to provide a high standard of care and there is no evidence to Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 indicate that outcomes for people who use the service have changed since the last inspection of the service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 13 April 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
