Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received since the last key inspection. This included the following. The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was completed and sent to us by the service providers. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by seven of the people who use the service and from six members of staff. What the service providers have told us about things that have happened in the service since the last inspection, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The report of the last key inspection, which was completed with a site visit on 13th June 2008. What other people have told us about the service. This would include any complaints, concerns or allegations that may have been reported to us. What has this told us about the service? The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) was completed and returned to us by the registered service providers. This document was well presented and gave us all the information we needed for the purpose of this review. Although the report of the last inspection assessed this service as Good, the service providers demonstrated through their completed AQAA that they are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of care and quality of life for the people who live at the home. The surveys that were completed and returned to us by seven of the people who use the service all provided very positive feedback about the home and the care provided. They told us that activities are provided which people can participate in if they choose to do so. We were also told that the meals provided are good and that the home is always kept clean. Six of the people who work at the home completed and returned surveys to us. They told us that they enjoyed working with the people who live at Doneraile, that they were able to gain the training they need and that the management were very supportive. Our records show that the home notifies us of things that have happened, such as accidents, incidents and deaths and these notifications tell us that the home is well managed. No requirements or recommendations were made in the report of the last inspection, which was concluded with a site visit on June 2008. All of the National Minimum Standards that were looked at during this inspection were assessed as met or Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 exceeded and excellent outcomes were recorded in the section of the report that covers the homes environment. We have received no concerns, complaints or allegations about this service in the past twelve months. From the information we have received, Doneraile continues to provide a good standard of care for the people who live there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 12th June 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have any concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
