We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys sent to people using the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they listen to the views of people who use the service and they are always looking for any further improvements they need to make. As a result of listening to people they have been able to make the following changes: They have placed the individual at the core of everything that happens within service delivery. Staff actively and positively support individuals both internally and externally in all aspects of daily life. Each individual has a detailed care plan, support plans and risk assessments. Individuals are involved in the recruitment and induction process. This ensures that all staff are able to deliver appropriate and accurate support. They also tell us that weekly meetings for people living at the home have been introduced. This makes sure that people living at the home are made aware of things such as weekly programmes of activities and of any appointments that have been made that they need to attend. They also tell us that the environment has been improved by fresh pictures in the communal areas which have been chosen by people living at the home, which reflects their personalities. They have also planted their own flowers in the garden. People have been supported to access colleges and have chosen the courses that they wanted to do. Surveys had not been returned from people living at the home for them to tell us their views about the service in time for them to be included in this report. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and we will do a key inspection by the 29th September 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time, to look at the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
