The people who live at this service continue to experience good quality outcomes. We looked a selection of files which belonged to the people who live at the home and we saw that these contained assessment undertaken by the placing authority and the home before someone moves in. The person sets the pace of the admission process and they decide when the time is right for them to move into the home permanently. This means that people have a choice and the move into the home is a positive experience. Peoples files contained lots of information about the need of the person and how the staff are best able to meet these. Care support plans were in place and these were formulated with the person and used information gained from the assessments undertaken. The home encourages people to be fully independent and to make full use of the facilities provided in the community with support from staff. Extensive activity programmes are in place and these range from educational activities to more outdoor active pursuits like archery, rife shooting, bowling, discos, walks in the country side and visits to the seaside. All activities are accompanied by a thorough risk assessments. People are also encouraged to undertake domestic tasks and to take a pride in their surroundings by being involved with keeping their bedrooms tidy and helping around the home. People are supported to maintain family links and have regular contact with friends and relatives. People are supported to lead a healthy life style and to access specialist health care when needed. People attend regular check ups at their GP, dentist and chiropody services. The home seeks advice from health care specialist with regard to sexual health and provides people with information and support where needed. There has been 1 complaint received by the home in the last 12 months, this was from a neighbour who was concerned about the noise one of the men was making. This was due to him experiencing quite a traumatic time over the Christmas period. This was resolved with support from specialist heath care professionals and the neighbour was happy with the outcome. The CQC have received no concerns about the home. There has been 1 safeguarding investigation undertaken by the local authority safeguarding team. This involved the two men who live at the home, 1 had physically abused the other, again over the Christmas period. This is now resolved and the staff took the appropriate action to keep people safe from harm, and made the appropriate referral to the safeguarding team. Staff receive ongoing training about how to recognise abuse and how to report this to the
