Staff should ensure that out of date and inaccurate assessments and care plans are removed from peoples files to avoid confusion and reduce risks of errors being made. Staff in the home should ensure that all people, including people being nursed in bed, or less receptive, have access to a wide and varied programme of activities and stimulation. The activities programme should also be reviewed to ensure it continues to fulfill the needs of people in the home. Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 8 What we found: This was a random inspection performed to ensure compliance before the transition to the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety used under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The unannounced site visit took place on Tuesday, 22nd June 2010. The last key inspection, performed in March 2008 awarded the home a good rating. During this inspection there were no indications to change this rating. During the inspection we spoke to the regional development manager, deputy manager, ten members of staff, six people who live in the home and one visitor. We looked at care plans, three staff recruitment records, training records, medication processes and policies and procedures. We did this because we wanted to understand how well the recruitment and safeguarding systems work and what this means the people who use the service. All this information helps us to develop a picture of how the home is managed and what it is like to live at Nazareth House.
