Further information can be obtained from the following website: www.oft.org.uk Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received and requested since the last key inspection. This included: - The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) sent out by us, was completed and returned to CQC in a timely manner. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - We telephoned the service and spoke with the manager to clarify the action that had been taken regarding the requirements set at last years inspection. - We looked at notifications informing us of significant events in the service received throughout the year. - We reviewed the previous key inspection report. - We took account of what other people have told us about the service and any relevant information received from other organisations was considered. What has this told us about the service? Through our telephone discussion we were informed that the two requirements set at the last inspection had been completed. This meant the provision of a further assisted bath had been made and that window openings are now either restricted or a risk assessment is in place to ensure the safety of those who live at the home. The registered manager also told of the continued investment in the property by way of internal improvements and the replacement of some windows. The registered manager further confirmed that they have a long term plan to replace all windows at the service. The AQAA told us that the service had improved by - The introduction of a new IT system. - In response to the lack of a dedicated administration person the senior staff have received extra training with regards to carrying out administrative roles within the home. - Better access to information for those who live and visit the service. - Ensuring people who live at the service have aware of whats going on in the home through a newsletter. - Ensuring that staff have opportunities to attend training and extend their knowledge which has resulted in many of the care staff obtaining their level 2 in care with others now working toward their level 3 - A comprehensive range of policies are in operation. All policies are reviewed after any incident and altered where necessary. All other policies have been reviewed during the Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 year. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 15 February 2011. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information Document Purpose: Author: Audience: Further copies from: Annual service review CQC General Public 0870 240 7535 (national contact centre) Our duty to regulate social care services is set out in the Care Standards Act 2000.
