The Home is situated in a residential area of Torquay and is less than a mile from the town centre. The Home has private transport facilities and is also on a public bus route. Information about the service is available from the service provider in the form of a Statement of Purpose and a Service Users? Guide. Copies of inspection reports are kept in the communal lounge and in the office and will be made available on request. Copies of reports can also be obtained from the CQC Website. At the time of the inspection the fees ranged from £425 to £580 a week. Additional charges are made for providing meals and/or overnight accommodation for peoples 1 0 0 3 2 0 0 9 Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 guests, professional manicures, pedicures and hairdressing, private telephone lines, magazines and newspapers and other items of a personal nature. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? Sundial Lodge was last inspected on 10th March 2009. The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. They have told us that they make improvements after listening to people who live at Sundial Lodge through the in house committee that operates. Some comments received from people that live at Sundial Lodge include; The home provides respectful and appropriate care, Its very clean and the staff are very helpfull and They care for us excellently in every respect. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. The Care Quality Commission has received one complaint about this service since the last inspection and upon investigation was found to be unsubstantiated. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
