Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 8 What we found: The reason for this inspection was to check that the excellent 3 star rating given at the last key inspection is still valid and that nothing has changed. We looked at key standards 18, 19, 20 - Personal and Health care support and 22 23 - Concerns, Complaints and Protection. The outcome is as follows and shows that the outcome for residents is still excellent and the 3 star rating is still valid. There is one resident living in the home with the owners and their family. We looked at the care provided to the resident. This included looking at the residents care records and the home environment, talking to the resident and the owners and observing interactions between them. The service user is satisfied with the support he receives from the owners and said he is happy living in the home. He has a close and caring relationship with the owners, having lived with them for over twenty years and has grown up with the owners children in a close family network. He is supported to make his own decisions and chooses when he wishes to bathe or shower, what times he wishes to rise and retire each day and what activities he want to be involved in. The owners are involved in activities with him as he wishes. He has an interesting and varied lifestyle with a good social life and regular voluntary work. Care plans and risk assessments are in place. They are regularly reviewed and the information in place is up to date. This includes the residents care needs, leisure choices and likes and dislikes, as well as information on professional visits. The records show any changes in the resident events and activities and any issues that may have arisen. The service user is able to attend to his own personal care needs and this is reflected in his care records, where significant events and health issues are recorded by the owners and service user. The resident has access to appropriate health services. He attends his GP or health appointments with support if needed. The service user is currently in good health and is not taking any prescribed medication. Medication policies and procedures are in place should these be required. Care records and discussions with the service user and the owners showed the service users health is well monitored. The home has a detailed complaints procedure, which has been made available to the resident. However as the resident has lived in the home for many years as part of the family, he feels that he can just tell the owners if anything is bothering him and they will help him sort it. The resident said he was happy living at the home with his family and enjoys his frequent holidays with them. What the care home does well: The resident in this home is very well cared for.
