Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We asked the home manager to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). The AQAA is the self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for the people using the service (living at the home). It also provides us with information about the number of people living in the home, their care needs and the staff group caring for them. Three people who live at the home, two member of staff working at the home and two heath and social care professional, returned survey forms. This provided information about the service from people who live and work there. We looked at what the service has told us about things that have happened. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the number and type of complaints received since the last inspection. The previous inspection reports and our finding at that time were also taken into account. We considered what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was returned to the Commission 14/09/09. This gave clear information about the service. We looked at the information in the AQAA this indicated that the service continues to provide an excellent service for the people who live there. The information indicates that ten of the fourteen staff employed have achieved an NVQ level 2 or above in care. This provides more than 70 of the staff team trained to this level. The Commission has received notifications from the manager regarding events that affect people who live in the home since the last inspection. The manager has kept the Commission informed of changes that could affect people living at the home. And she has advised us of any actions she has taken. The AQAA told us what the service has continued to do since our last inspection and service review. This showed that the home manager has continued to use an annual development plan for the service. And also continues to complete monthly audits covering all aspects of the day to day running of the home. The commitment of the homes management team to ensuring staff receive training they need to do their jobs well was evident in the information provided for this review. The Commission has not received any complaints about this service since our last inspection. The AQAA also indicates that no complaints had been received by the home. Comments in anonymous surveys we received from people living at Bascombe Court and staff working there included. Looks after my patients very well. Most seem very happy at Bascombe. Staff always pleasant, also very sensible. Staff were very friendly. The staff and management of this home are very caring people. Help me at any time with all my needs. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 They managed to maintain a very happy atmosphere in all that they undertake. Im very happy to be cared for by the staff. I enjoy working at Bascombe court very much. Always looking forward to the days shift. I do like working at Bascombe Court I find it a happy relaxing home. Our previous inspection judged the home to be providing an excellent service for people who live there. No Requirements were made at the last inspection. Four good practice Recommendations were made at our inspection on 18th October 2007. The information available to the Commission shows that the service has continued to provide an excellent standard for people who live there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 18/10/10 . However, we can inspect the service at anytime if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
